For some reason, every brewery and their mom needs to have a Belgian style ale or else the big kids will make fun of them. Thankfully, few Belgian style beers are so bad that they are nigh undrinkable. But some are so spiced up with coriander it’s an assault on your senses.
White Rascal is part of the former category. The spices add a nice touch of the Belgian flavor to the beer, but stay away from the overpowering mess many others fall into. It has a smoother mouth feel than it’s very grainy mass competitor: Blue Moon. But yet, it’s similar enough that many people would just shrug when tasting between the two.
It’s light, it’s easy, and it tastes good. That’s about as high a praise as I can give it. As always, it’s much better with an orange slice on the rim.
2 1/2 out of 4 stars. Would order in a bar. Would order over Blue Moon.
