New Belgium: Sunshine Wheat

I had this beer with a nice bowl of noodles at Noodles & Company. And that’s about the upper limit of food you should pair this one with.

I’m not saying it’s bad, it’s just nothing to write home about. It was quite refreshing, and definitely falls into my “sit on a porch to day drink” summer beer category. It goes down smooth, doesn’t have an offensive smell and at 4.8%, you can put away quite a few. But calling it a wheat seems like a flavor misnomer. It doesn’t taste like any other wheat beers I’ve had (of course for Goose Island’s 312, that’s a good thing). In fact, it tastes way more like a lager than anything else.

Whatever it is, it’s very drinkable and that’s the ultimate standard by which I judge my beers.

2 1/2 out of 4 stars. Would buy the six pack.
