Samuel Adams: Fresh as Helles

You have to give Sam Adams one thing, their mix pack is awesome. 6 different kinds of beers? No one else has the balls to do that. Looking at you every other brewery.

Fresh as Helles is obviously a helles style lager. Which basically translates to light or pale. Most often classified as “blonde” over here. And it does pour a golden color. This particular beer is brewed with orange blossoms. You can’t really taste it, but you can for sure smell it. A citrus-y flower scent. The mouth feel is surprisingly wheaty, despite being as clear as a lager should be. The taste is nothing to write home about, light with just a hint of sweetness. Kind of like honeyblossom. A decent summer beer, but not much more.

2 1/2 out of 4 stars. Would drink after a long day’s work.
