New Belgium: Voodoo Ranger IPA

You might notice that this beer’s design is a little different than most New Belgium fare. That’s because they are going through a little bit of a midlife crisis. They’ve discontinued the Ranger IPA and now call it voodoo ranger. But there’s little magic in this new brew.

I’m not sure how it compares to the original but Voodoo is just average. The smell is nice and hoppy with a little floral attitude. The beer is crisp and clear with a deep golden color. At first sip you might think it’s just an aggressively hopped pilsner because it really is on the light side. The hops hit you a little later on. Bitter but not too bitter. And like most New Belgium beers, this one falls into the category of not offensive, but nothing special.

2 out of 4 stars. Would order in a bar.
